Good day

Today was a good run.  I did 2.5 miles and I ran 1 mile of it.  My knee is killing me but I felt so great afterwards!!!  Tomorrow will be a semi-rest day, I have to mow the lawn but I won't run.

Frustrated

The kiddo and I ran half a mile and then walked another half.  Wish I could have done more, but kiddo wanted to come home.  It helped to relieve some of my frustration, but I need to go out longer, with just me and my ipod.  I don't even feel tired.  I want to go run and walk until I'm tired.  I was up until 3am beating myself up over failing that stupid class.  I want to run until I can just come home and fall into bed.  I guess I need to go fix lunch for my little one.  Need to keep busy.  Not in a good mood today.

Apparently, running 2 days in a row is a bad thing for me.  My brain and my body aren't communicating very well.  My brain says "Yes, you can run multiple days in a row.  It will be great!  10 lbs you're going down!"  But my knee says "Think again".  Wednesday I ended up having to wear the brace, which is very uncomfortable but it did feel better after putting it on.  Yesterday I was going to go after mom got home, but other things intervened.  Tonight we all did a mile.  Little one refused to run but we got a little bit of a jog in there.  Tomorrow we will be going for a run while Mom does her long run.  Looking forward to it.  I want to get this weight off and look great in my outfit and I want to be in great shape for my trip next summer.

It's hot out there...

And summer hasn't even started.  It should not be so hot at 9 or 10 in the morning.  But my baby and I got our there and did our fun run.  Thinking we will have to go earlier in the morning on Thursday, she was complaining about the heat too, so we took it slow and enjoyed whatever slight breeze we could get.  My knee was pretty stiff from yesterday fabulous workout so it really helped to loosen it up too.  We both feel better after taking a shower.

Great run today!!!  I did 2.25 miles total and I ran half of it!!!  Okay okay, a little clarification... I run on a 3/4 mile track, I ran half of each lap, but that is still farther than I have been running each lap.  Feeling wonderful!  Definitely helped to relieve some of this stress from finals, tomorrow is a fun run with my baby.

Great Weekend!!!!

My baby and I had a great walk/run this weekend.  She has so much energy.  She probably would have run the entire thing if I would have let her, but I don't think she is quite ready to run an entire mile and a half yet.  Maybe in a couple of years.  I got flowers from her for Mother's day and a big hug and kiss.  Best gift ever!  Tomorrow finals begin, so I'm looking forward to running this week.  I need to release some of this stress.  Plan to get to school early tomorrow to do more reviewing and finish some notes.  Almost done with them but the hand was cramping.

Found out that I do actually have some fashion sense.  Bought my outfit to where at my grandparent's 50th Anniversary party.  Now I just need to drop 10 lbs this month so that it will look great on me.

Not the same type of running...

Today is typically not a running day because I'm in class all day long, and I wasn't able to run yesterday.  So today I ended up running errands for the office and helping to set up for the awards ceremony.  My knee aches and I ran whenever I could.  I know it isn't the same but at least it was something.  Next week is finals, good reason to go for a run.  I'll use the run to de-stress and clear my head.

Not going to get to run today.  :(  I only have a 2 hour break today and it has been taken up by everything!  Meetings, dropping off paper work, and somewhere in there I have to find time for lunch.  Bleh!

Rest day

I keep having to tell myself that I have to take a rest day between runs or I could re-injure my knee.  Today was a rest day.  wonderful rain was falling so at least I didn't feel like I wasn't wasting a great running day, but wasted the time I took to do my hair this morning.  It's 2:10pm, last class of the day (only class of the day actually) then I can go home.  Finished one of my papers.  One down, one to go.  Both due on Friday.  Unfortunately the easy one is the one I finished, now I have to finish the very in-depth and detailed one that is due first on Friday.

Feeling Great

I was itching to run all morning, but I had to go to classes.  So as soon as classes were done (and the honor society meeting was over.  I'm now the new VP!) I grabbed a quick lunch and headed to the track.  The thing I love about the track I run, its a 3/4 mi track.  Two laps around and I have my 1.5 miles or I can do more, but the main thing is, bigger track fewer laps.  I ran 0.5 miles of my 1.5 mile stretch today.  Then after my little one and I got home we went for a short job together.  Just around the circle, just under half a mile.  It was a good day and I'm feeling great about it!

New Running Partner

Well I have a new running partner... My kiddo!  She is training to run the one mile fun run that the local running club (which we will soon be members of) puts on at many of their races.  She had so much fun.  The area we run near the house is almost a half mile around, she finishes that but could still keep going!  We would have gone around again today except she tripped and got a couple of boo-boos.  But she's tough!  She finished running out the last little bit, even with her new boo-boos, with a big smile on her face.  She had a blast.  Apparently, it happened at almost the exact same place she had jumped and fallen yesterday when she was running with my Mom.  Wal-mart didn't knee pads for a kid as small as her (almost 4), so I bought 3 boxes of jumbo band-aids.  Whether she has scraped knees or not, she's going to have a band-aid on her knees before we go run on the weekends.  The cool thing is, that the jog is very light, so I was able to jog the whole thing, almost half a mile!

Ipod found!  Note to self:  Make sure all pockets of backpack and purse are closed, or else the Ipod will disappear again.  Found just in the nick of time, about to go mow the lawn.  It goes so much faster when I have music to listen to.

Great day... For the most part

Today's workout was great.  I ran two1/4 mile sections and did 1.5 miles total.  Feel wonderful that I was able to run 1/2 mile even if it wasn't consecutively.  I'm sure my knee will begin the protest later, but I picked up the big bottle of Aleve on the way home.  Tomorrow I have a full day of classes, depending on how things go in my last class, I may or may not run tomorrow too.  Tried to donate blood today too, but sadly my iron was too low.  Sucks!  I really wanted to donate blood.  They are collecting blood for the victims of the tornado outbreak last night.  My prayers go out to all the people affected by the tornadoes in MS and AL last night.

Now its time to work on my presentation for tomorrow.  Bleh... I really don't want to...

Rain...

We go weeks with little to no rain and then today, it pours.  Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same.  It was probably a good thing that I didn't run/walk today since my knee was acting up, but I was kinda looking forward to it.  Even if my ipod is MIA.  On that note I have to say thank goodness for FM radio on my phone.  Hoping that it doesn't rain until after my workout tomorrow.  Can't wait to have some good lookin' legs for swim suit season.  May be too late for this year, but I can still get them in better shape before the season is over.  This weekend... crawfish boil and pool party at my bestie's.  Gonna be a blast!

Day 1

Today I did 1.5 miles and I ran 0.25 miles of that.  My new runners are awesome.  They fit like a dream, and I could feel them cushioning each step.  I didn't feel any knee pain during the workout, but I probably will tonight.  I felt so great afterwards.  I didn't feel any of the usual bad feelings I used to get during running.  I'm hoping this means I'm in better shape than I thought.  Now time for a light snack with my little one, then do some work.  Ready for tomorrow!

Happy Easter!!!

No beach today.  Too much to do at home.  Going to transplant my pumpkins, dye eggs with my wee one, then hunt them down, then maybe work on a presentation for Friday... maybe.  Coffee is brewing as I type and I am definitely feeling the beach walking from yesterday.  Yay!!!  I can actually feel that I worked the muscles in my legs!!!

Not much luck in the shell hunting, but walked from one end of our beach section to the other and back again.  Twice actually since we parked on the opposite end of the beach of where we chose to play.  Even raced the little one for a bit.  Maybe tomorrow we will have better luck with the shell hunting.  I wonder if I will end up sore again after 2 days of walking in the sand.  Oh well, I look forward to it.  Means I've worked my muscles.
Today we go to the beach.  I know last week my legs were sore from all the walking in the sand.  Time for another shell hunt!!  I wonder what we will find this week...

These are my new runners.

The beginning...

We all know that all sorts of things can wreak havoc on our bodies and mine is no different.  I wasn't very active as a kid, but I still kicked butt and at one point I could run 1.5 miles in under 13 minutes Now that's not going to be breaking any records with that, but that's pretty good.  Then I injured my knee.  Long story short, it took a long time for anyone to figure out what had happened to it.  And I quit running.  I haven't actually tried to run in nearly 5 years.  I have gained a lot of weight since the injury.  I've been through a depression, gained weight.  I had a child, lost weight at first, but gained it all back soon enough.  I've been fluctuating ever since, but only plus or minus 10lbs, not near how much I need to lose. 

Well I have big news.....  I am about to begin my Odyssey!

I got myself a good pair of running shoes today.  Can't wait to break them in!!  I'll post a pic as soon as I figure out how to post pictures on here.
